Canyon Bicycles wins two 2009 design awards of the Federal Republic of Germany
Canyon Bicycles of Koblenz, Germany has won two Design Awards of the Federal Republic of Germany, the country's highest distinction in the field of design.
The 2009 Design Awards of the Federal Republic of Germany 2009 were awarded at the Ambiente-International Frankfurt Fair on Friday, 13 February 2009 at the at the Forum, Hall Panorama, Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre.

Known as the "Prize of Prizes", the Design Awards of the Federal Republic of Germany is so prestigious because no other design award sets such strict criteria on entries. A company can only enter the competition for the Design Award if its product has already been awarded a national or international design prize. Another precondition for entry is that companies must have been nominated by the Ministries and Senators of the Federal States or by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology.

Canyon Bicycles founder Roman Arnold commented that "for Canyon, this is a great honor to be nominated for and then win two Design Awards of the Federal Republic of Germany. We are in the company of German firms like BMW, Loewe, CLAAS, and
Gaggenau which special in and of itself. For Canyon Bicycles, design is very important. Not only that our bicycles are attractive from the visual design standpoint but from the functional industrial design standpoint."

Canyon Bicycles won in two different categories; for "their new corporate design, of which the central element is the striking, left-tilted lettering, which was the basic of a new font we created. All of Canyon's new corporate design elements form a holistic ensemble, which expresses the philosophy and identity of the firm and clearly sets it apart from its competitors."

Canyon Bicycles also won for product design for the F10 Ultimate CF Pro frameset. "The Canyon Design Team led by Lutz Scheffer has developed a carbon fiber frameset with its pure design that looks nice for the eye and fulfils all functional requirements. The F10 frame looks its best in the pro reigns and proves its competition-qualities. Despite all its advantages, it is still affordable for the hobby rider."

The 2009 Design Awards of the Federal Republic of Germany 2009 will be awarded at the Ambiente-International Frankfurt Fair on Friday, 13 February 2009 at the Forum, Hall Panorama, Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre.
