Mavic announced today that Orbea Racing Team, the top Spanish MTB team, will use 2010 Mavic Cross-Country wheel to take on this season's World Cups race calendar. Team Orbea is coming off a successful 2009 season where Julien Absalon won his fifth World Cup Overall title and is the Vice-World Champion. As part of the partnership, the team will use the next two years to help test and develop new wheel systems targeting the Olympic Games of London in 2012.

Moreover, I am already in direct connection with their engineers to participate in the development of future XC wheels.' declared Julien Absalon, double Olympic Games Gold medalist.

The racers will use a large part of the existing Mavic range: from the superlight Crossmax Ultimate prototype to the Cross-Country benchmark wheelset, the Crossmax SLR Disc.'

Julien started the season winning at the Catalan Cup in Northern Spain mid-March showing he is in great shape to chase his season's target: re-conquer the Cross-Country World Champion title in Mont-St Anne, Canada in September 2010.
